Rauner signs 'Illinois Trust Act'

Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner signed into law on August 28, 2017 the Illinois Trust Act. The messure will prohibit police officers and other law enforcement officicals from stopping, detaining, or arresting anyone based on their immigration status or an immigration detainer. Rauner stated "Illinois has been welcoming of immigrants for a long time, and this bill will continue that tradition."

Immigration Raids to Target Teens

U.S. immigration officials are expected to begin 4 days of nationwide raids that will be targeting teenagers suspected of belonging to gangs. The teenagers targeted will be 16 and 17 year olds who are suspected of gang activity. The teenagers who would meet the criteria will be those who have a gang related tattoo, wearing gang apparel, or those who hang around areas that are frequented by gangs.
