Trump administration unveiled a regulation that would allow it to detain migrant families, who cross the border illegally, indefinitely. It would replace a decades-old court agreement that limited how long the government could hold migrant children on custody and mandated the level of care they must receive. This regulation would abolish a 20-day limit on detaining families in immigration jail. Families could be sent to a family residential center to be held for as long as it takes for their immigration cases to be decided.
